   “Okay, lets get going,” Araminta said taking the lead with Mr. Monster behind her and SubHuman pulling up the rear.
   “We’re not just ditching are we?” SubHuman asked knowing Mr. Monsters current state of mind.
   Monster grabbed Araminta’s shoulder and said, “We’re not leaving just yet, kitten.”
   “Why not? Kid Victory said-” she protested.
   “My doctor is in the building and I got a whiff of his stench. I need to settle my bill,” he said with a scowl.
   “It’s our duty as Americans,” SubHuman added.
   Araminta looked up at Mr. Monster who was not wearing the pleasing face she liked and knew that this had to happen. She nodded and said, “If anyone asks I’ll say you disobeyed and dragged me along.”

I got a message from Kris Anka about his designs from that article. I was thinking about publishing it but chose to send it to him. Basically what to say about them is they feel iconic to the characters he did and felt right to me.

Its Phantom Lady. One of the earliest female superheroes, created in the 40s and basis of Silk Spectre.

Its not a well known character but long time DC comic fans tend to recognize her.

Its interesting though how many people thought she was an X-Men character.

If they had kept the long hair and green shades maybe, but honestly it doesn’t seem like a superhero look. Her costumes are ridiculous though so I’m for a change.

They could just do something similar to Voodoos outfit, which is mostly covered up and use the shades and cape. Bam! Most the problem solved.

I actually really like the She Has No Head article, especially as a companion piece to the article on good redesigns. Certainly, the redesigns shown weren't perfect by any means but they were at least a different approach to how to costume female characters. But the main reason I liked it is that, after an article praising good design, it's calling out how many female characters are still stuck with dumbass, sexist costumes.

The point of the article made sense. I have no problem with redesigns or people who want their heroes in more casual fare. I don’t. Superhero costumes appeal to me as a reader. I have the same problem with pro wrestlers who wear jeans and t-shirts-it takes away from what makes it feel great for me. Also, I would not have recognized these characters if I had stopped reading comics for a few years.

My biggest issue is how the author lumped many of the responders who disagreed with her together in one group and insulted them. A number of the comments were just people saying they didn’t care for the one artists designs and thats fine. But to be mad that a number of people want something more like superhero comics and say we’re the problem? No, thats BS. One of the problems in superhero comics is this disrespect we show each other for different opinions. Calling out sexist costumes cool. Calling out a fan who doesn’t like the design you do? Not cool.

I think her arts fine, its just when people redesign the characters in a way where they don’t look like superheroes it feels like their missing that element that makes superhero comics awesome. The outfits. Or that maybe they feel that superhero comics are too silly with the costumes. Or its the influence of TV and movies.

I don’t disagree that a number of female characters need an updated look but I just don’t think these are it.
